Customer Groups
A customer group lets you sell the same product at different prices to different kinds of customer — for example retail buyers, trade accounts, and a VIP tier. Malovex calculates a separate price for every active group, so a single product carries one price per group.
Customer groups live under Pricing → Customer Groups.
How groups shape prices
Section titled “How groups shape prices”Malovex runs the pricing pipeline once for each active customer group. On its own a group produces the same price as every other group — the difference comes from price rules that you target at specific groups.
-
Create the customer groups you need (for example “Retail” and “Trade”).
-
Create a price rule — say a 15% discount — and target it at the “Trade” group only.
-
Malovex now prices every product twice: the standard price for “Retail”, and the discounted price for “Trade”.
A price rule that isn’t targeted at any group applies to all groups; a rule targeted at one or more groups applies only to those. See Price Rules.
Creating a group
Section titled “Creating a group”-
Go to Pricing → Customer Groups and select New customer group.
-
Enter a name. Names must be unique within your account.
-
Leave Enabled on. Save.
Your storefront and the Prices API read the per-group prices; each price is tagged with its group so your platform can show the right price to the right customer.
Enabling and disabling groups
Section titled “Enabling and disabling groups”Each group has an Enabled switch. When a group is disabled, Malovex generates no prices for it — useful for retiring a group without deleting it or losing its rule targeting. Re-enable it and its prices are recalculated automatically.
Seeing per-group prices
Section titled “Seeing per-group prices”Open any product in My Products. The Prices section lists every group with its final price; expand a row to see how that group’s price was built, including any group-targeted rules that applied. See How Pricing Works.
How many groups you can have
Section titled “How many groups you can have”The number of customer groups depends on your plan:
| Plan | Customer groups |
|---|---|
| Starter | 1 |
| Pro | 10 |
| Enterprise | 100 |
If you reach the limit, delete a group you no longer use or upgrade your plan.
