Category Tree
Your category tree is the structure you organise products into for your stores — independent of how any supplier categorises them. You build the tree, describe which products belong in each category, and Malovex places products into it automatically.
Open it from Catalog → My Category Tree.
Building the tree
Section titled “Building the tree”The tree starts from a single root. Add categories beneath it and drag them to arrange the hierarchy.
-
Select + on a category to add a subcategory beneath it.
-
Give it a name. If your stores use several locales, add translations so the category reads correctly in each language.
-
Drag categories to reorder them or move them under a different parent.
Category labels across locales
Section titled “Category labels across locales”Each category shows its label in your current store’s language first, with the other locales in braces after it — for example Laptops (Portatīvie datori LV, Laptopy PL). This makes it easy to see, at a glance, that every locale is translated. A locale you haven’t translated falls back to the base name.
Placing products automatically
Section titled “Placing products automatically”Rather than assigning products by hand, you describe matching rules for a category, and Malovex files every matching product into it. Rules can match on:
- The supplier’s own feed category path.
- Manufacturer or supplier.
- Product attributes for a given source.
A product can belong to several categories at once. Categories with no rules simply stay empty until you add rules or products.
Importing and exporting
Section titled “Importing and exporting”For large restructures, export the tree to a spreadsheet, edit it there, and import it back. The hierarchy travels in the file, so you can reshape many categories at once instead of dragging them individually.
How many categories you can have
Section titled “How many categories you can have”The size of your tree depends on your plan:
| Plan | Categories |
|---|---|
| Starter | 50 |
| Pro | 500 |
| Enterprise | 5,000 |
If you reach the limit, remove categories you don’t use or upgrade your plan.
