Product Masters
Behind every feed product is a product master — a single shared record for one physical product, no matter how many suppliers carry it. When two suppliers send you the same item, Malovex matches them into one master with two offers behind it, so you manage one product instead of duplicates.
Product Masters is the read-only view of these records, showing where each product’s data comes from. Open it from Catalog → Product Masters. You see the masters behind the products you sell, plus your own custom products.
What a master shows
Section titled “What a master shows”Open a master to see the full picture Malovex has assembled:
- The product — its image, title, manufacturer, and EAN.
- Suppliers — how many suppliers carry the product (each supplier is an offer feeding your pricing).
- Images, documents, and data by source — described below.
How products are matched
Section titled “How products are matched”Malovex matches incoming supplier products against the masters it already knows — by EAN and by manufacturer part number — so the same physical item from two suppliers becomes one master with two offers behind it. Manufacturer names are normalised along the way: suppliers spell the same brand many ways (“Manufacturer 1”, “MANUFACTURER 1 INC.”), and Malovex ties those spellings back to a single canonical brand, which is why the manufacturer shown on your products stays consistent regardless of the source.
Most products match automatically. When a product can’t be matched with confidence — an ambiguous identifier, a barcode that already belongs to a different item, or an unrecognised manufacturer — it isn’t guessed at: the Malovex team reviews it and resolves it behind the scenes. That’s why a newly connected supplier’s products may trickle in over a short period rather than all at once. You don’t need to do anything; once resolved, the product flows into your catalog normally and appears in My Products.
Where your data comes from
Section titled “Where your data comes from”A master’s content is enriched from several sources. The data by source view lists, for each attribute, exactly what each source reported — the supplier or enrichment source, the locale, and the value. This is the provenance behind the values you see on the product page: if an attribute looks wrong, this is where you can see which source supplied it (and, from there, override it or suggest a fix).
Images and documents
Section titled “Images and documents”Malovex keeps its own copies of product images and documents (datasheets, manuals, and the like) so your store exports don’t depend on your suppliers’ servers staying online. Each file carries a hosting badge:
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Mirrored | Malovex has cached its own copy — the safest state. |
| Remote | The file is still served from the source’s URL. |
| Unreachable | The source file couldn’t be reached, so it may not display. |
Reporting a problem
Section titled “Reporting a problem”If a master has bad data — a wrong image, a mismatched specification — you can report it from the product so the Malovex team can correct it at the source. Corrections applied this way become global fixes that benefit every customer. For a change that only concerns your store, use Edit store content instead.
